Traffic Engineering Project Manager

  • 7-10 years’ experience in Traffic Engineering.
  • Experience in conducting traffic analyses (TIA’s) to NCDOT standards
  • Experience in negotiating with both private and public sector clients.
  • NCDOT experience required along with a proven ability to communicate effectively with DOT, municipal and county DOT officials effectively. VDOT or SCDOT experience a plus
  • Experience with public involvement outreach along with assisting in business development
  • PE Required.
  • The ideal candidate is an individual who is highly proactive and creative. Needs to understand traffic operations and have excellent technical writing skills.     Environmental Scientist

    DAVENPORT is seeking to fill an Environmental Scientist Position that will be assigned to our Wilmington, NC office. This is an entry-level position that will require the organization and performance of various types of environmental investigations. This position requires professional verbal and written communication skills; the ability to make informed and professional judgments, the ability to perform field investigations and prepare technical reports, as necessary. Applicants must have a 4 year degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or other related environmental field. Knowledge of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) Division of Waste Management Guidelines and regulations as well as assist in the preparation of technical reports is preferred. In addition, experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation is a plus.

     

    Typical Duties:

  • Prepare technical reports per NCDEQ guidelines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance for project activities, ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to perform soil and groundwater sampling to evaluate site conditions.
  • Preparation of permit applications.
  • Maintain client satisfaction/confidentiality.
  • GIS and/or CAD mapping, preferred.
  • Preparation of environmental documents and studies in compliance with NEPA guidelines for both state and federal agencies. Experience with the North Carolina Department of Transportation Planning and Environmental Branch is preferred.
  • Some travel required including regular visits on job sites.
  • OSHA 40hr Hazwoper training will be required.

    Civil Engineer

    DAVENPORT is seeking to fill a Civil Engineering Position that will be assigned to one of our 11 regional offices.

     

  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Ability and desire to work in multiple jurisdictions (potentially the entire DAVENPORT service area).
  • Experience in the analysis, design and permitting of municipal/higher educational land development projects. Desired skills include: due diligence, site layout, civil analysis and design of roadway plan & profiles, earthwork takeoff estimations, grading analysis & design, storm water calculations, and erosion control (BMP) calculations.     This position requires candidates having experience with the preparation of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, and Categorical Exclusions. Experience with environmental planning that includes 401/404 permitting, wetland delineations, natural resources, socio-economic impacts, and community assessments is preferred. Experience and knowledge of environmental permits required for local, state and federal projects is preferred. Knowledge of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) Division of Waste Management Guidelines and regulations is also preferred.

     

    This position may include project management of NEPA related tasks. Due to DAVENPORT’s growing environmental program, responsibilities of this position may increase over time. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on diverse environmental projects ranging from transportation NEPA studies to environmental compliance at military installations.

    Jeremy Runkle, PE, MBA is selected to lead the new DAVENPORT office in Jacksonville, FL

     

    DAVENPORT is thrilled to announce the addition of its 11th office to the Southeast! Located in Jacksonville, FL this will be the firm’s second office within the Sunshine State (in addition to Pensacola, FL). Our firm has chosen the right person for the job. Jeremy Runkle, PE, MBA will serve as the Director of the Jacksonville Regional Office. Mr. Runkle has extensive experience in the field of transportation engineering and has significant experience on notable design-driven multimillion dollar projects.

     

    Jeremy comes to DAVENPORT with over 10 years of experience providing transportation engineering services including proficiency in roadway design, construction plans preparation, CADD, project documentation, and cost estimating. Mr. Runkle’s specialties include geometric design, intersection design, interchange design, traffic operations including signing and pavement markings, ADA compliance, and bicycle facilities, with additional experience in pavement design, drainage design, and maintenance of traffic design.
